“Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth.”
— Hugh Macmillan
Every Winter Solstice in the lunar calendar, Chinese families gather around the table to eat a specialty dish Tang Yuan (glutinous rice balls).
Traditionally, this sweet gingery dessert brings the family together on the longest night of the year, symbolizing reunion and completion. And together as a family, they welcome the (sun)light back into their lives.
Come taste this special Winter Solstice delicacy with us, as we guide you to reflect on the completion of 2017, and powerfully anchor your vision for the new 2018.
